Choose your subtitle language, size and bilingual mode

The subtitle settings sit in the side panel, so you can change them without leaving the video.

Steps

  1. Open Settings. Click the Donghua Mate cloud in the player's control bar, then the Settings tab in the side panel.
  2. Pick a target language. This is the language the subtitles are translated into. After you switch, the video is translated again in the new language and the subtitles come back after a moment.
  3. Set the subtitle size. Choose Small, Standard or Large. The change shows on the current line straight away.
  4. Turn on bilingual subtitles. The original line appears under each translated line, which helps when you are learning Chinese or want to check a name.

Good to know

  • Bilingual mode only adds originals for lines that are already translated.
  • The other switches in Settings, covering burned-in subtitles and danmaku, have their own tutorials.
